Find Your Ritual: A Simple Guide to Building Your Wellness Routine

A wellness ritual is not about doing more. It is about doing a few small things with intention. Here is how to build one that fits your day.

By Laura Colucci, Founder of Spritz Wellness

The word ritual can sound grand, like something that needs an hour and a free afternoon. It really does not. A ritual is simply a small, repeated act done with a little intention: lighting the same candle as you start work, misting your mat before yoga, running a warm bath at the end of a long day. The repetition is what makes it powerful. Do something often enough, with care, and your mind starts to read it as a signal, time to focus, or time to let go.

Start With How You Want to Feel

The easiest way to build a ritual is to begin with a feeling, not a product. Do you want to wake up and feel clear and energised? Or come home and feel your shoulders drop? Once you know the feeling, the scent and the moment follow naturally. Bright, zesty aromas tend to lift and energise, while soft, floral and herbal blends tend to calm and ground.

Morning Rituals
  • Energising scents like citrus and mint
  • An invigorating shower or body scrub
  • A focus candle as you start work
  • A few minutes of movement or breath
Evening Rituals
  • Calming lavender and chamomile
  • A warm bath with Epsom salts
  • A mist and an eye mask before bed
  • A caffeine-free herbal tea

Not sure where you land? Our Find Your Ritual quiz asks a few simple questions and points you to the blends that suit how you want to feel.

Build It Into Your Day

The secret to a ritual that lasts is to attach it to something you already do. Mist your pillow as you turn off the lamp. Light a candle as the kettle boils. Take three slow breaths before your first email. These tiny anchors are how a ritual becomes a habit rather than a chore. A lovely place to begin is a warm evening soak, and our guide to a magnesium bath for sleep walks you through one, step by step.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a wellness ritual?

A wellness ritual is a small, repeated act done with intention, such as lighting a candle before bed or misting your mat before yoga. The repetition and the intention are what turn an ordinary moment into a calming cue.

How do I start a daily wellness routine?

Start with one moment you already have, such as your morning shower or your wind-down before bed, and add a single sensory cue like a scent. Keep it small enough to repeat easily, then build from there.

How do I choose the right scent for me?

Begin with how you want to feel. Calming blends such as lavender and chamomile suit rest, while bright, citrus and herbaceous scents suit focus and energy. Our Find Your Ritual quiz can point you to a good starting place.
