Flamingo pink + matcha green. Loving this simple yet tasty recipe from Matcha Moments. We have altered it a bit by adding fresh mint.
The natural sweetness of the watermelon and the soft bitterness of the matcha make a wonderfully refreshing drink for the summer. And the stacked layers of colors look so pretty that it makes the watermelon-matcha ice tea a nice summer drink.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
INGREDIENTS
(Makes 2 servings)
- 1/3 of a big watermelon (ca. 1kg), seeded and cubed
- 240ml water
- 2 teaspoon (4g) Matcha Moments Culinary Matcha
- Ice
- Optional: Tiny watermelon wedges + fresh mint.
STEP 1:
PREPARE THE MATCHA
Add 2 teaspoon (4g) of matcha to a bowl, add 240ml of 80°C (176°F) hot water and whisk it briskly with a bamboo whisk. You can use our culinary matcha (cooking matcha) for this. You could also use one of our higher qualities (ceremonial or premium) but culinary has a stronger flavor which is perfect for mixing.
STEP 2:
PREPARE THE WATERMELON JUICE
Cut the watermelon into small cubes. For the lazy/gadget loving people amongst us, you can use a juicer (the benefit of that is that you don’t need to remove the seeds). If you don’t have one, remove the seeds and mix the watermelon in a blender until smooth.
STEP 3:
MIX IT TOGETHER
Fill up the glasses with the ice and pour in the watermelon juice (more than half of the glass), then the matcha (about ¼ of the glass) and finish off with an extra layer of watermelon juice (about ¼ of the glass). Garnish with tiny watermelon edges if you want and some fresh mint!
