How to Make a Butterfly Pea Flower Latte

A calming, colourful wellness drink you can enjoy hot or iced

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon dried butterfly pea flowers (or 1 butterfly pea flower tea bag)

  • 1/2 cup hot water

  • 3/4 cup milk of your choice (oat, almond, coconut, dairy all work well)

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)

  • Optional: vanilla extract or a pinch of cinnamon for added flavour

Method:

  1. Steep the Tea
Add the butterfly pea flowers to a cup and pour over the hot water. Let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes until the water turns a vibrant blue. Strain the flowers if using loose petals.

  2. Warm and Froth the Milk
Gently heat your preferred milk in a saucepan until warm but not boiling. Use a frother, handheld whisk, or blender to create a light foam.

  3. Sweeten to Taste
Stir in honey, maple syrup, or a dash of vanilla extract into the steeped tea if desired.

  4. Combine
Pour the blue tea into your mug, then slowly add the frothed milk. For a layered effect, pour the milk carefully over the back of a spoon.

  5. Optional Colour Shift
For a touch of natural magic, add a few drops of lemon or lime juice and watch the tea change from blue to purple.

A Moment to Pause

Sip slowly and intentionally. This latte is naturally caffeine-free, rich in antioxidants, and perfect as part of a morning ritual or evening wind-down.
